fCultural note: Wigilia Wieczór wigilijny (Christmas Eve) is the most important part of Christmas for Poles. After the first star appears in the sky, the family begins supper by breaking wafers together and exchanging good wishes. The supper should be made up of twelve dishes, such as: barszcz z uszkami, pierogi z kapustą, and the obligatory carp. After supper, the family sings Christmas carols and they give each other presents.
